I was probably enjoying the holiday more by this time but bear seemed to be having so much fun!
Unfortunately, on the Tuesday the weather was awful and we were confined to the caravan site. Which is where the facilities came in handy. We went into the arcade and had a play on some 2p machines (bear had a few too many go’s on a giant car ride) and we topped it off with a Costa and letting bear run free in the soft play. It was really lovely despite the weather and we all got back to the caravan, had warm showers and got into our snuggly pyjamas for tea with the fire on and the TV.
We met up with Amy and her little man again on the Wednesday and decided to take a trip down to Trevaskis Farm for some fruit picking and exploring. Silly us decided to wear white knowing what the weather had done the day before (muddy puddles everywhere!) but we went for it anyway. The boys loved picking the different fruit and may have even had a sneaky couple whilst walking around (they demanded an apple each and chowed down on strawberries and raspberries) they played in muddy puddles together with their wellies on and we even found a greenhouse with some tomatoes inside and a cat that bear was obsessed with. Amy and I saw a man holding a 6 day old baby outside and were stuck cooing over him. SO BROODY. We were able to see some farm animals; pigs, horses and sheep and we managed to collect quite an impressive punnet of fruit. Bear loved it, fruit for breakfast everyday.
On our last day, we wanted to do something really nice. Not travel too ridiculously far but go somewhere like a seaside town or with quite a bit to see and do. We settled on Newquay. Bear had his first ever splash in the sea and we spent a while making sandcastles on the beach. Bear loved it, although it was a little chilly so we didn’t want to spend too long there (he was wearing his swimsuit and water shoes too and was running around in excitement). We went for an ice cream in an ice cream shop (bear’s first ice cream). Bear and his daddy had ice creams with cones but obviously I went for the hot waffle with strawberries and ice cream (which bear stole some of once he’d finished his of course). We went to find an arcade so we could play on some penny machines, bear loved the car game and the whack-an-alien game. On our way back, we stopped off at a fish and chips restaurant and had a lovely meal (bear’s first fish and chips too, exciting day for him!).
I would absolutely LOVE to go to Cornwall again, although I’d probably stay in a slightly different place next time, maybe nearer to Newquay which seems to have more for young children. The drive down there was an absolute killer though, I couldn’t do it every year (as much as I would love to). But we all had such a brilliant time! We’ve already got a holiday booked for this year with family but I might try and book us a short break somewhere for the 3 of us, it was so lovely spending time together and enjoying things with Bear and seeing him exploring. We will meet up with Amy and her little man again though that is for certain!
Have you got any nice holidays booked or can you recommend anywhere brilliant for toddlers and small families?
