5 Things I’ve Loved in May: Linky

This month, my lovely friend Rachael over at From Rachael Claire and her friend Georgia at Georgia and Stan have together created this lovely linky for bloggers everywhere to take part in. I’ve never taken part in a linky before, but I’m already loving how this is going and I can’t wait to see everyone elses!

There’s just something so lovely about thinking back to the previous month and reflecting on the things that made you happy/smile and things you’ve adored doing/watching/listening to. It’s like thinking back over the month at your favourite memories or thinking of something positive in each day. There is ONE rule to this linky these ladies have created, and that is that NONE of the 5 things on our lists can be related to our children or motherhood/parenting. Even as a mum of a 2 year old, I find that I’m so wrapped up in him and taking on my role of mum/girlfriend/adult person (apparently) that I completely forget at times who am and what makes ME happy (other than being a mum of course).

The Greatest Showman Movie

So I’ve got specifics yeah. In the month of May, The Greatest Showman was released on DVD. The day it came out, I saw it in my local Sainsbury’s store for £10 and couldn’t resist grabbing it. I’d watched it once previously and I absolutely adored it. But watching it again (and again and again) just makes me so happy. Hugh Jackman AND Zac Efron in the same film, singing and me able to swoon over them both. And the soundtrack. My goodness, the soundtrack! I have added some of my favourite tracks to my playlist I just love belting it out in the car (hopefully nobody has seen or heard me haha!) It’s on Amazon also if you want to get it, you really should watch it, I highly recommend!

Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Face Mask

A little bit different. But I bought this in February or March maybe and I’ve started to use it properly throughout last month. I have really difficult skin and finding products that work is a bit of a crippling process (for my bank and sanity) but I’ve been loving The Body Shop products a lot. I saw it was on offer for £11.20 in store (instead of £17) and threw it in my basket. Well, this has been heaven to use. I’ll write a better review soon but I’ve been loving it. Especially as I’ve been exhausted, stressed and just in general need of a really good pick me up lately. This suited me throughout and it has just been so so great. I’d really recommend you give it a try if you can, you can get it here.

My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella

Before Bear was born, I read a lot. I’ve been through phases in my life where I’ve not picked up a book in a long time and then all of a sudden, I’ve read a good handful. Since having Bear, I’ve glanced over a couple of bits here and there (I’ve mostly read the instructions for toys, let’s be honest #mumlife) but I’ve not gotten through many books at all. Just before christmas, I read a book by my favourite author Dorothy Koomson, but it took me a while, and I was absolutely loving it, it was just finding the time (or making excuses). But I read it and I realised ‘what am I even doing? I LOVE reading’ so I picked this book up for £4 in ASDA after we had decided to read it in an Instagram Book Club I’m a part of. Again, it took me a little while to actually read more than the first few pages, but slowly I’m getting there and it’s just a great read. I don’t have to invest too much of my time or energy into it and it’s lovely so far. I’ve found it on Amazon if you want to buy it.

The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey Calming & Protecting Hand Cream

I should have said how much I’ve been loving The Body Shop in this post shouldn’t I? Ha! I’ve been washing my hands so much more consciously lately. And they’ve been pretty hard worked too so they’ve needed a bit of TLC. I know they need more than a moisturiser (the dry, peeling skin tells me so) but I’ve loved using this on them in the evenings and at quiet times (it just feels nice to rub your hands with moisturiser, goodness knows why). Besides the Honeymania Bubble Bath Melt (that’s been discontinued boohooo!) I think this has to be my most favourite scent/range of products. It’s so refreshing yet calming, it’s honestly been so so good for when I’m feeling stressed too, just popping a bit on my hands and having a good smell of it. You can buy it here if you fancy it (it’s lush!)

Netflix/Brooklyn 99

I have already gotten through 2 and a half series of this over the last month (okay, not my best but I had to go on sick and was a bit too distracted at some points to physically watch any) but nonetheless I have been LOVING it! I think it was because of seeing about it being cancelled on twitter, I thought ‘I’m needing something new to watch’ and specifically, I was ready for something light and fun and easy and this has been perfect. I am getting invested in it but it’s so so good. A friend of mine has also been watching it so we’ve been able to discuss it and it’s been so fab. I usually am not up to date with what other people are watching or doing, so having someone watching it at the same time has been great too! I will be so gutted when I’ve finally caught up to it now but I’ll be so happy for the next series to come for definite.

So yeah, these are 5 of the things I’ve been loving this month all for myself haha! I can’t wait to see what everyone else has been loving too so please do follow the linky if you can. If you’re not taking part, I would love to know what you’ve loved this last month, maybe I’ll get some new ideas to get my hands on haha!

I’m another one whose doing the linky. I feel like I’m one of the only people who hasn’t seen The Greatest Showman yet, I did read Sophie Kinsella’s book My Not So Perfect Life last year though and loved it!
