Each month, I’m joining in with the 5 things I’ve loved linky, created by the wonderful Rachael & Georgia. As I explained in May’s Linky Post, the aim of the post is to think and write about 5 things I’ve loved this month that are NOT parenting related. We all know a lot of our time is consumed by our sweet, needy, adorable little humans, but what makes us tick? What’s been floating our boat? I have to say I’m loving reading what others have been enjoying and it’s so wonderful to see that everyone is taking time for themselves and doing nice things they love other than being a parent.
I absolutely cannot believe that it is July already, where HAS the time gone at all?! It’s been a whirlwind of a year but I’ve definitely proven to myself if anyone, how bloody strong of a woman I really am. But we won’t get into that now. As I said previously, I have been really trying to do more things for me or at least find more things that make me happy and I love having this linky to reflect on the month and remember all the lovely things I’ve enjoyed. So here are June’s favourites;
Picnics & Park Trips
I know I’m not the only one who has been trying to embrace and enjoy the glorious weather. It’s lasted ages hasn’t it?! I have been whinging a lot however, I’ve been getting bitten and I get sweaty and hot and uncomfortable and so aggy but on the plus side, I’ve been loving all the fresh air I’ve gotten and seeing my family happy and enjoying it too has been wonderful. We’ve had a couple of picnics but quite a few walks out to the park. I’ve really needed the fresh air and clearing my head recently and it has helped so so much and it’s certainly taken my mind off things which is always a bonus! We’ve also been able to do some of our outings with friends too which has been amazing. The kids playing in the sunshine and us having a catch up and a good chin wag whilst enjoying the sun. Perfect!
Being able to have a Bubble Bath
An odd one I know but bare with me. When I had my miscarriage a few weeks ago, the instructions were that I couldn’t have a bath for a couple of weeks and I was absolutely gutted. Just because I love a good bubble bath, even though a bath is not exactly my favourite in this heat haha. So towards the end of the month, things cleared up and I was able to have a bath. Again, I’ll mostly be taking cool showers but I just couldn’t wait to get it all bubbly and have a nice relaxing soak. I always pop the tablet on the side so I can watch something while relaxing too.
Strawberries and Cream
An absolute summery favourite of a dessert. We still haven’t been to pick any yet due to working and whatnot but they’re in season so the punnets in the supermarket are so lovely and sweet. And we all love strawberries in our house so it’s a win all around really. I picked up some cream and one day we had a really lovely tea of fish and salad and I followed it with some lovely strawberries and cream and it was actual heaven. I honestly haven’t had this in so long but when I went to Tesco recently, they had samples of strawberries and cream and bear and I devoured them so I had to get some. I’m definitely going to be getting more to enjoy especially whilst the weather is here to stay for a bit longer.
This month, even though I had a couple of weeks off, I’ve been trying to post on Instagram more. I’ve been trying to engage more, really show some appreciation on other’s posts and leaving comments and likes more and slowly it is paying off. I’ve not done a massive amount of work because I’m still trying to do it when I have a spare few minutes but I’m engaging more rather than just looking and It is helping so much. It’s also really really lovely to get comments from others appreciating your posts and to have conversations with people on it rather than it just being a platform where you like a picture and leave. I have found my engagement to be getting slightly better and my followers to be slowly increasing, but I’m also really proud of my pictures too, and of course I’ve been getting some help from Lisa who may have took a few shots I’ve posted haha.
Last month, a friend told me Spotify were running a deal on their premium service which was 3 months for 99p and I had to grab it. I’ve been listening to a lot more music lately whether I’m sticking my headphones on whilst I write or playing it every time I get in the car. I think it does help that I’ve got a bluetooth connection so I can play it through the speakers but I just love driving and having my own music to enjoy and sing along to. I have found myself listening to so much more since getting the premium though as I’m able to listen to any playlist and not worry about skipping songs etc. I’m loving finding new music too, although most of it is not my taste one bit. I’ll just stick to the Emo and Pop Punk playlists ha!
