Panda Kids Memory Foam Bamboo Pillow Review

Panda Kids Memory Foam Bamboo Pillow Review

For a while now, Bear has slept like a dream. His routine for bedtime has been altered a few times but we’ve gotten there and it’s been so great. He’s been so pleasant and in such a great mood during the day when he’s had a better night’s sleep. He’s also always been a tummy sleeper. However, once he turned 1 years old, his naps became few and far between, his sleep started to alter slightly in that, in the last week or so, he has been fighting his sleep so much. Where he’s usually in bed asleep by 7pm, he’s been fighting it until approximately 8.30pm, which has been exhausting all round, I’m not going to lie. This is where Panda Kids Bamboo Pillows* came in.

Panda Kids contacted me and asked if I wanted to review one of their bamboo memory foam pillows for kids, and of course I jumped at the chance, in the hopes that it would improve Bear’s sleeping, and also, the added benefits really sold it for me. The pillow is suitable for children aged 1-3, which is the age I was planning on changing the bedding from blankets to duvet and add a pillow in his bed anyway. Of course, I only have an ordinary pillow for him, which would suffice, but I couldn’t not give this pillow a try.

The pillow is “made up of a cut from  the finest odourless third generation memory foam” and has a bamboo fiber cover. This means that the pillow can breathe naturally and it is also hypoallergenic and has antibacterial properties, which is perfect for children who struggle with spores and other allergens in the air. I also REALLLYYY love the little panda logo in the corner.

It has a washable cover which has a zip to keep it in place, this zip is neatly tucked away so it won’t catch on your little one’s skin or can be pulled apart. It’s also really easy to wash, can be done on a 30 degree wash and doesn’t take quite as long to dry due to the bamboo fibres. The one thing that really settled my anxiety around keeping Bear at a comfortable sleeping temperature and ensuring his surroundings were comfortable and he could sleep peacefully was that the pillow has temperature regulating properties. This means that it helps to keep your babies cool in the summer and warmer in the winter. Perfect!

And how it worked for us you ask?

Well, on first impressions, Bear loved having something new in his cot, but as a sleep crawler, he would lay on the pillow for around an hour or 2 before wriggling off it. However, after around a week or so, I found that he would sleep on the pillow for around 75% of the night. He changed positions in his sleep of course, but he liked having the pillow there, I think it must have been comfortable for him surely. He now remains with the pillow all through the night.

The other issue we had, was him fighting sleep. However, I found that with him sleeping with the pillow more, he sleeps so much more peacefully at night, he has also been sleeping until around 8am again (my god I haven’t had such a lie in in a couple of weeks, I was definitely needing it ha!). But he’s been so much happier and more peaceful in the morning, singing to himself and having a good old chat before he shouts ‘mamamama’ for me to come and get him.

With being a sufferer of back problems & sciatica, the fact that there is a memory foam pillow available for toddlers really won me over. I know myself how much they can really help especially with the positioning of your body and how you can lie to get maximum support on your back and spine, and of course I don’t want my little boy to struggle with something like that either. It’s definitely become a staple item in his cotbed (as you can see) and I have absolutely no idea what we will do when he outgrows it haha!

*I was sent this item for review however, as with all reviews, these are my own, honest thoughts.

Oh my goodness this is so cute and definitely something we need for Alfie! I’m glad he’s sleeping better, there is nothing worse than a tired baby and a tired mummy x
