Our Hunt for a Nursery & What to Look For

Our Hunt for a Nursery & What to Look For

From when we found out we had a tiny human on the way, we had thought long and hard about childcare (after all of the other baby related stuff that clouds over your brain). We came to the conclusion that when our child turned 2, we would look for a childminder as we thought we would also get the 15hrs free. Unfortunately (in some cases) we don’t qualify for the free 15hrs but also, the decision on childcare has taken a turn.

Getting Out on Our Toddlebike2: A Review

Getting Out on Our Toddlebike2: A Review

You’re stuck indoors wondering why your toddler is destroying the place, not listening to you and whining (a LOT). So you want to get out (it’s rare these days you go stir crazy) but outings always mean to the park. Why not make it a little more fun and throw a Toddlebike2 into the mix. Your child will definitely love it and it makes outings so much more exciting. I’m so so grateful for Toddlebike for gifting us one of these even if I do have to get it out on most trips to the park and I love that bear has his own little bike now.

The Importance of Colour in Early Years

The Importance of Colour in Early Years

Recently, we’ve been looking at different ways in which we can help bear with his development and learning. We were worried about his speech up until recently as he barely said any full words, although I was probably comparing him to other children his age a little too much. The one thing we haven’t quite established yet however, is colour. We have recently been attending a toddler group which lasted for 8 weeks and focused on the key aspects of development and learning for children who were walking up until 2 and a half years old. It was only a small group but meant it was much easier to do different activities. Each week would focus on something different such as numbers and counting, songs and rhyming, physical activity etc. There was a craft activity each week either painting or sticking and towards the end of the course, bear had really gotten into it and developed some skills. One thing I think he enjoyed the most though, was an activity where he had 6 different coloured bowls and lots of dinosaurs of the same colour and he had to put the coloured dinosaurs into the matching bowl. He got this straight away and he absolutely loved it (so much so, I’ve found the set that was used and added it to his Amazon Wishlist oops!) It was then that I realised how important it is for us to focus on the colour aspect of his learning as much as speech, numbers, letters etc.

I was probably enjoying the holiday more by this time but bear seemed to be having so much fun!

Our Family Holiday in Cornwall (Part 1)

Our Family Holiday in Cornwall (Part 1)

Back in September, Bear, his daddy and I had our first holiday, just the 3 of us, taking a trip down to Cornwall. As well as wanting a holiday for us so much, I was also dying to meet Amy and her little one. I asked Amy for recommendations of areas where we could easily get to her but also were near other sights and activities. We finally decided on a caravan resort on the outside of Mullion. The holiday itself was an absolute bargain as I had booked it through the Sun holidays (the £9.50 ones) and after requesting to extend the holiday from 3 nights to 7, with the caravan, passes for entertainment, use of facilities and a highchair and cot for little bear, it cost £200 in total. The biggest challenge for us, was the travelling…
