Rubbish Removal and Getting our House Ready for Summer

Rubbish Removal and Getting our House Ready for Summer

I think we have all seen and experienced the glorious weather lately. As well as wanting to be out in it a lot, I’ve also found the need to clean and have a good clear out of the house. We live in a 2 bed rented terraced and it seems it has been easy for us to just put things in a room or to the side so it looks relatively tidy but isn’t amazingly tidy, that bag of gift bags was still in the corner of bear’s room until recently, and we still have a dismantled dining table in our lounge and kitchen. But I’ve just felt the need to clean loads recently. Having the doors open, windows open and fresh, clean smells everywhere is my favourite thing now I’ve been getting ready for summer, our next job is to fully clear each room one by one (not just because we had a house inspection or we want to move at some point but “tidy house, tidy mind” and all that).

Recently (a few days ago), my partner and I did a really good clean in the whole house. We had a house inspection so we wanted to make it look more presentable and smell fresher than it did. And I’m so impressed with how well we have done and I am so excited to keep it up and looking amazing. Our house has never looked so good (well minus the big bits) but yeah. The bathroom is my favourite room and not for anything other than there a few things I’ve used to make it smell lush! The next step is to use rubbish removal services to help us with the clearing out of each room.

I have ideas of how I want my house to look. Or at least, for the time being while we’re in rented accomodation, we have to do what we can with the space/layout we have. But I still have ideas. I’ve written down room by room what I want and what needs doing. Most of the things that are left to clear are pretty big things for example, the dismantled dining table, an unused computer and computer table, a mattress and other things in the loft that I don’t even know what is up there. But we’re also very quickly filling the bins with a good clear out (we have a cupboard in the kitchen which is the size of a small toilet extension full of stuff we shoved in there when we moved in) so we might have to get in rubbish removal services to help with this stuff as I also don’t have a very big car at all. But it’ll be worth it for the amount of things we have.

As I said, the bathroom is my favourite place at the minute. I bleached it the other day so it looks and smells amazing. I have this air freshener I picked up in Aldi along with these toilet duck toilet bowl fresheners and a daily bleach and the room just fills with clean, fresh, citrusy smells of orange, lime and lemon. I also used Wild Orchid floor cleaner in the spray mop although the scent doesn’t linger really.

I also have Bear’s room to tackle, as I’ve mentioned previously but I want to get him a toddler bed as the cot is looking rather bashed (I have no idea what he gets up to while we are asleep but it sounds noisy) and move his room around. Unfortunately the loft hatch is in there but I think I want to remove the rocking chair and move his bed to clear space for the hatch and keep his room looking slightly separate from the end. His room at the moment is also absolutely full of black bin bags of old clothes to sell/donate/recycle. But it’s generally such an easy room to keep clean, just a hoover and a good wipe round with dettol wipes or a good cleaner keeps it looking and smelling lovely. We will definitely have to get rubbish removal in to help with this room though haha!

Downstairs, we have the lounge and the kitchen with a cupboard which houses a lot of unused, old stuff at the minute. We were using the dining table to store a lot of stuff we weren’t sure what to do with but we’ve managed to clear it and swapped bear’s high chair for a booster seat so he can sit and eat his meals with us at the table as opposed to his own table and chair. All of the surfaces have been getting a good wipe down after every use with antibacterial wipes until I give the kitchen a proper weekly clean with something better. The dismantled dining table though and the cupboard under the stairs really need moving and clearing out.

Honestly, I feel like each room/job will take a good day at least to make it fully how I want. I want a proper bookcase in the lounge for all of my books/DVD’s (those Tim Burton ones need looking after) and other bits of pieces I want on show, then to move the room around and in the future, a new sofa would be brilliant too. But for now, we have made it summer ready, and there are always rubbish removal services at hand should we need them (which I think we will somehow haha!).

What are your plans for getting your home summer ready? And what are your favourite products for keeping each room clean and fresh and lovely smelling?

We are doing our garden to get ready for summer – i’m determined to make the most of the good weather!! I’m glad you’ve mentioned rubbish removal – we have just gutted our garden as we are getting artificial grass and I was trying to work out how the hell I’m going to get all of the scrap to the dump! Off to nosy at rubbish removal companies!

Oh gosh bless you! I love keeping boxes and bags just in case but honestly just get rid babe, so much space to be made or use them for storage 🙂 I think we’re awful for hoarding and not clearing out aren’t we haha! I daren’t go up into the loft, not just because of spiders and heights and darkness but I think it’s full, oops haha! xx

I bought a reed diffuser recently and it’s so lovely now when I walk in the door and can smell that. We are trying to have a clear out too but it’s a slow process!

Oooooooh a reed diffuser. I’ve seen them being used and things but never actually owned one, I think I may have to, I don’t have the candles on much because of worries of the smells etc and little man but I’ll definitely get one 🙂 Hahaha it does take a while doesn’t it, but once done you will feel amazing and you will love it haha! xx
