Toddler 2nd Birthday Gift Guide

Toddler 2nd Birthday Gift Guide

As most of you reading this might know, little bear turned 2 years old recently!! I know, my heart is aching so much, he seems to have just grown and flourished in the last couple of weeks and no longer looks like my baby anymore. Anyway, I struggled for so long with ideas of what to get him. It’s recently been Christmas so he received plenty of things for that which I had to make lots of room for and there was just nothing specific he needed or I wanted for him that either he didn’t already have or was suitable or just didn’t take up a ridiculous amount of space or get lost.

I did finally (in the last month running upto his birthday) find some bits I absolutely loved for him and knew he would love too. He was always going to receive a fair bit as his family LOVE to spoil him so much, so I didn’t want to get too much and also, budget restricted me slightly. But it was fine, I thought I did okay. I want to share a few of the bits that were bought in preparation for his big day as a guide, or inspiration for if you’re struggling what to get your 2 year old for their birthday. Obviously he did receive so much more than this but these are a few of our favourites.

First Stories Board Books

I had seen the Jungle Book one on Amazon but I was so happy to finally find them in our local Sainsbury’s at a much cheaper price. I had seen that they do Disney Princess ones similar but I thought these two were fab. I picked up The Jungle Book and Jack and the Beanstalk. Two really good, adventurous, fun stories. The books have slide and see features on each page whether it is someone hiding or a character popping up which makes it so much more fun to read. Also, they aren’t too wordy and I think are absolutely perfect for a child of this age!

Itty Bitties*

These adorable little characters were sent to us and they are just the cutest! They are small, soft toys but are characters of our favourite stories/movies/tv shows. They have such an amazing selection to choose from including Batman, Wonder Woman, Snoopy, Scooby Doo and more! The Itty Bitties are really not too expensive either and are perfect for collecting and displaying but our favourite is playing with them as pretend play. Bear gathers all of his characters and figures and loves playing with them all together. Watching his imagination work this way is so fascinating!

Personalised Star Sign Artwork from Tulip & Moss

Georgina is one of my really good friends and she creates this wonderful artwork images, I couldn’t not have one! Over on her Instagram page, she creates absolutely beautiful, personalised imagery for those who have lost little ones and other pieces you can chat with her about. I just think they’re absolutely beautiful and I thought this piece of his star sign constellation would look amazing on his wall in his room (just need to get all matching frames for his pictures to put up and it’ll look incredible). I am just so in love with this!

Pyjamas/Next Size Clothing

You can never go wrong with getting something lovely to add to your little one’s wardrobe. Whether it’s some new pyjamas or a lovely new outfit. I feel like clothes are a safe buy, however they will ALWAYS come in handy. I picked up these pyjamas from Tesco for £6.50 for 2 pairs from the baby section of clothes and immediately loved them. I just love the basic colouring and patterns of them but they’re so cute. He does need some more clothes as he has just gone into the next clothing size but I haven’t found anything. He does love his pyjamas though! He has just started to identify and say “dog” too so these are fab!

Wooden Toolbox & a Popper Toy

This wooden toolbox is something I’d been toying with for a while (pun not intended). I’d seen others online and in other toy shops but none were suitable for his age. They all said 3+ and had small pieces. So I was so relieved and pleased to come across this in Sainsbury’s. It’s wooden with some plastic screws which are quite large too, and is suitable for 18mth+. Also, it is a steal at £10.50. Although, if you follow me on Twitter you’ll have seen that I saw some brilliant bargains recently on toys in there and this little kit was reduced to £7.87, I couldn’t not get it for him! He uses the toolbox to carry his small animals around in but he knows exactly what to do with the screwdriver and hammer and I know it is going to give him endless hours of play.

The popper toy is from one of our favourite brands; B. Toys. This was a gift from bear’s great grandma and as soon as he saw it, his eyes lit up. It has been the perfect toy for him and he loves pushing down the top to make everything pop. I know these can be suitable for younger ages too and I think they’re such great toys for little ones!
